03 May Can Dental Sealants Help Your Teeth?
You may have heard that dental sealants are great for the health of your teeth, and that they could even stop cavities from forming–but what else have you heard about this important treatment? For example, do you know if you’re a good candidate for sealants or why sealants benefit you?
As you may know, sealants are useful because they keep food and bacteria out of hard-to-clean areas of your teeth. Typically, sealants are placed in your back molars because they can be hard to reach. If you have sealants placed, you may prevent cavities and could help your teeth stay stronger for years to come.
Unfortunately, many individuals aren’t considered good candidates for dental sealants. Sealants are usually recommended for children whose teeth have just finished erupting. Still, if your teeth are healthy, you may be a good candidate. Our dentist may also decide to recommend sealants for individuals with weak teeth, simply to add an extra layer of protection.
Sealants can last for many years, especially if they’re cared for well. But sealants should not take the place of regular brushing and flossing. If you would like to learn more about dental sealants, or would like to learn more about how you can protect the health of your teeth, please don’t hesitate to contact Bull City Dental at 919-680-3531.
